Husband in hospital 7 weeks it started with shortness of breath and blood in plural cavity with high INR?

had a thoracotomy, chest tubes, kidney failure is now off the ventalator but has a weak cough and collapsed lung around the bases. He got most kidney function back so far but is week as a kitten and cant get up at all or walk anymore, is this the result of all the sickness? he also gets short of breath with activity and lays in bed and sleeps all the time. the staff all says how good he is doing and the doctors but i dont see it.
