How should i decorate my room? (I'm 17)?

so my house is being done up since I moved in it has been some horrible yellow wallpaper, I'm probably going to be moving out for uni in a couple of years time and so I want something that I will love now and later, originally I wanted hot pink, white and silver theme but then i thought about having a different base colour with white and silver like aqua, hot pink or purple. I want something that won't be too childish and something cool and calm :) so any ideas would be so helpful! or if there are any other colours or ideas that would look good would be brilliant to! thank you :) x
