Best cameras to buy in India?

I want to buy a digital camera. I am a novice user and don't have much expertise in photography. I plan to use the camera occasionally like reunions, trips, family functions etc. My budget is 6k-7k INR and is extendable upto 8k INR. I want good photo quality and zooming capacity. Right now, i have down listed Nikon coolpix L24 and Canon IXUS 105, though i am open to other suggestions. Can someone help me to select a good one??
